In early 2024, I laced up my running shoes for the very first time with zero experience and no idea what I was stepping into. It was my friend Chandray from Odisha who nudged me out of my comfort zone. “Ranjita, you’re a weight lifter why not try long distance running?” he said.
That one suggestion changed everything.
What began as a simple challenge soon turned into a deep passion. I discovered a side of myself I never knew existed the resilience to keep going, the strength to silence doubt, and the joy that comes from pushing beyond limits. The adrenaline of marathons, the rhythm of my breath matching my footsteps, and the roar of the crowd became my therapy, my celebration, and my escape—all at once.
From the vibrant streets of Kolkata to races beyond the city, every event has gifted me more than just medals. Running has given me mental peace, lifelong friendships, and a community of like-minded souls who believe in growth, grit, and gratitude. Every starting line is a reminder that courage begins with a single step. Every finish line whispers, “You are stronger than you think.”
Running, for me, is not just about distance—it’s about discovering yourself mile after mile.
If you’ve ever doubted your ability to begin something new, let my journey be your sign. You don’t need experience. You don’t need perfection. You just need the willingness to start.
Step out. Lace up. Chase the calm. Chase the adrenaline.
You might just fall in love with a version of yourself you’ve never met before.
