Hi, I am Ujjwal Sahu from Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.
My running journey started in 2016 when a local marathon was organized in my hometown. My dad encouraged me to register for the 5 km run. I was actually the last person to register, and I had no idea what to expect.
During that first run, I stopped almost four times. My pace was slow, and I finished in around 35–36 minutes. But even after struggling so much, I felt very happy after completing it. That feeling stayed with me.
For the next 2–3 years, I participated in a couple more 5K runs, but then I completely stopped running.
Later, when I moved to Pune for college, I started running again—just 2–3 times a week. That’s where things changed. I ran my first 10K, and even though I stopped once or twice, I realized I wanted to improve and run without stopping.
I started training more seriously. Slowly, I improved my stamina and mindset.
Last month, I completed my first half marathon in Gurugram in 2 hours 15 minutes—without stopping even once. That was a big moment for me because I went from stopping multiple times in a 5K to running 21 km continuously.
Now, I can run 5 km in 25 minutes and 10 km in around 45–50 minutes. My next goal is to complete a half marathon under 2 hours.
After that, I want to complete a full marathon, and eventually, my biggest goal is to complete a full Ironman, which includes around 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, and a 42.2 km run in one race. I will not stop until I achieve that, and once I do, I will set new goals for myself.
Other than running, I also enjoy swimming, cycling, and trekking. I love going to the mountains and doing adventure activities, especially the ones that involve some level of risk.
