Whitathon Run 2026: Run to Fight Eye Cancer
The Eighth Edition of the Whitathon Run is a premier cause-related sporting event organized by the L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI). This annual run aims to raise critical awareness and funds for the early diagnosis and treatment of Retinoblastoma, a life-threatening eye cancer that primarily affects children under the age of three.
By participating, you help spread the word about the "White Reflex" (a white glow in a child's eye), which is a major early warning sign of eye cancer. Funds raised are dedicated to providing free treatment for children from underprivileged families and supporting cutting-edge research into novel treatment options.

Why Your Participation Matters
Retinoblastoma is curable if detected early, saving not just the child's life, but also their eye and vision. Currently, while 90% of children treated at LVPEI survive, eyesight is saved in only 45% of cases due to late detection. India accounts for nearly 25% of global cases, making local awareness campaigns like Whitathon vital for public health.
