Now an Abbott World Marathon Major, the TCS Sydney Marathon offers runners the opportunity to take on a world-class 42.195 km course through one of the world's most recognisable cities.
From the start in North Sydney, runners take on an unforgettable journey through Sydney before crossing the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and finishing at the Sydney Opera House.

The Course
The TCS Sydney Marathon course combines a challenging marathon distance with some of Sydney's most iconic landmarks.
The official course starts in North Sydney and finishes at the Sydney Opera House, taking runners across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and through some of the city's most scenic and historic areas.
The official course has approximately +313 m of elevation gain and -83 m of net drop.
2027 Ballot
Entry for the 2027 TCS Sydney Marathon is through an official ballot.
The ballot opens at:
10:00 AM AEST — 29 September 2026
and closes at:
10:00 AM AEDT — 19 October 2026
The ballot is not first-come, first-served. Applications are considered through a random draw, so entering on the opening day does not provide an advantage over entering later during the ballot window.
Ballot entry is free.
Successful applicants will be notified on 3 November 2026, when the applicable entry fee will be charged.
For international participants, the official 2027 ballot information currently states an entry fee of AUD 330 for successful applicants.
