Deccan Ultra 2027: Conquering the Sahyadri Peaks
The Deccan Ultra 2027 is one of India’s most demanding trail running spectacles, set against the rugged backdrop of the Sahyadri Range in Maharashtra. This event offers runners an unparalleled endurance challenge, featuring a course that traverses the highest point in the state—Kalsubai Peak—and the legendary triple forts of Alang, Madan, and Kulang (AMK). From technical rocky outcrops to near-vertical ladder climbs, this race is designed for those looking to test their limits on the ancient terrain of the Deccan Plateau.
Event Overview and Course Highlights
The Deccan Ultra provides a diverse range of categories to accommodate both elite ultra-runners and those new to mountain trails. Participants will navigate a mix of easy-ascent slopes and treacherous ridges overlooking deep valleys. The longer routes (161 km, 115 km, and 80 km) circulate around the scenic Bhandardara Dam and the iconic Windmill mountain top, involving a grueling ascent of five forts.
